So I'll admit it, I actually like the first installment of YPD. It was loud, colourful, with a few decent songs & all 3 Deols rocking it out, Punjabi style. So when the first promo of YPD-2 hit screens, I genuinely felt the same vibe being exuded. So the 3 Puttars are back, supposedly bigger & better...but do they pack in the same punch?
Far far far away from the first one, this one is a disaster.
Dharam & Bobby are father-son thugs operating in Benaras. Yamla baba tricks people, takes their money & vanishes. They decide to land one big con & Bobby will marry Billionnaire Annu Kapoor's cute daughter, Neha Sharma & come in to royalty. Dharams elder son Suny, is a goody two shoes, workng on doing up Annu's club in London. Unknowingly the 2 conman end up in London & Sunny learns of their plans.
Madness ensues, with double-rolls, Orangutans, another hot girl in Kristina who is the real daughter & a stupid villain Anupam Kher who's name is "Dude".
While that synopsis doesnt really make much sense, its not meant to. But unfortunately. this doesn't even fall in that genre of masala that has no logic but entertains. The film maintains a sluggish pace for 150 minutes & agonizingly crawls to the action packed climax.
The 3 look great & the soul of the film is Dharam Paaji. Seeing him at a ladies bar with a woman on his lap surely brings about a laugh. Sunny is earnest & does his share of shouting & beating. The girls look stunning & are good support. Annu Kapoor hams to the point of being irritating.
Director Sangeeth Sivan fails once again. Click, Chura liya hai tumne, Ek, the list of his flops goes on.
To sum it up, this one is a complete downer. I went in hoping to be entertained by stupid humour but the jokes never came. This might be lapped by North India but will surely fail elsewhere. Steer clear!
Overall Review Verdict: Insanely boring...not even for random masala movie fans...
