Safarnama Meaning | सफ़रनामा
Safarnama or Safarnaama is Urdu for Travelogue.
Safar is Urdu for travel, a journey, and -naama is a suffix which means 'an account of' or 'the story of.' For example you might remember the famous books Baabarnaama and Akbarnaama. These were supposed to be accounts of Baabar and Akbar's rule respectively. So, similarly, a 'safarnaama' is an account of a journey or travel, which we can call a travelogue.

The song is like a theme song for the movie, as in, the movie's theme is that there is one love story that keeps on going, again and again, in different places, in different times, and yet it is that one same story. This song here connects a few of the stories in the same way.

panghaT kaal se lo chali kahaani
ho.. sarpaT dauDti hai faqat zubaani
chhutput aashiqui mein Dhali kahani
see, the story begins with a rhythm of percussion,
see, the story begins from the time of panghat,
it runs uninhibited on just the spoken word.
the story, moulded in love stories now and then.
Note: panghat means just a place where people go to fetch water, on the river bank. But here it probably signifies the time of Lord Krishna where Radha and gopis used to go to panghat to fetch water.

Mahiwal ki honi bhi thi
it’s the river chenaab,
it’s full of love,
she used to go to meet Mahiwal,
dancing on the waves here,
even her name was Sohni (means beautiful)
and she had to be Mahiwaal’s too.
lekin bhay kans ka tha usko to phir
Vasudev ne kaanha ko lekar
jamuna se paar langaaya..
dariya se to Firaun ki behena ne phir Moosa uThaya
but she was afraid of Kans
Vasudev took Krishna,
and went across Yamuna (to save him),
and Firaun’s sister picked up Musa from the river..
Note: Now this sounds like the same story going on, but from Sohni-Mahiwaal we have moved to Devaki’s story who is afraid of Kans for her son Krishna and Krishna is saved by Vasudev, and then in the fourth line the song moves to Moosa who was saved from a river by Firaun’s sister. Interestingly, in all three stories, there are rivers there and they seem to be connected here in a way.

Wat Wat Wat Meaning
Wat Wat has no meaning.
Now let me explain the meaning. Wat is just a suffix from the words lagaawat, banaawat, etc., which would respectively mean applies, makes. And -wat is nothing but the part of the word that decides the tense of the verb. Like -s in plays, eats and sings, like -ta hoon in khata hoon, peeta hoon in Hindi. Here the lyricist has used it nicely to rhyme a few verbs. This way of speaking where such words with -wat are used is from an Eastern UP dialect of Hindi, guess Braj bhasha.

Irshad Kamil Meaning

Irshad Kamil [इरशाद कामिल,ارشاد کامل] was born as Mohammad Irshad, but he felt his name was incomplete, and wanted a weightier name. So, as per a Caravan Article, 'he pored over a dictionary with his mother to look for an appropriate word to complete his name, and discovered ‘Kamil’, which means complete'.

The Story Behind 'Jo Bhi Main Kehna Chahoon'
I was always, always mystified by those nine words.
"Jo bhi main kehna chaahoon, barbaad karein alfaaz mere."
"जो भी मैं कहना चाहूं, बर्बाद करें अल्फ़ाज़ मेरे।"
I always wanted to know where the words came from, what was the inspiration, what made a writer write those words that undermine the value of words themselves, and with such a simplicity, in such an admission, that it sounds like a very simple truth.
I was so mystified of the lines that while I was writing to Irshad Kamil to ask the meaning of a word today, I asked him about this line too. But before his reply to me, I found something in Caravan magazine's article on him. Pasting those lines that talk about this line, if you're interested in the rest, the link is included too. Check it, it's a good article about a wonderful person.
“Words destroy what I have to say,” was the brief Ali offered Kamil during their initial meetings in 2010 for a song that brings out the dilemma of his hopeless protagonist. Kamil responded with lines from a ghazal of his:

Kamil suggested the last two lines for the particular song. But Ali, as Kamil now recalled, didn’t accept these lines because his troubled rocker Jordan, previously Janardan Jakhar, wasn’t supposed to have this kind of sophistication. “He was not a poet,” Kamil said to me about Ali’s lead character. To make it sound like something that could come from Jordan, Kamil toned down the original and proposed “Seedhe baat kartey hain” (Let’s talk in a direct manner), which, after a few more rounds of discussion, led to the memorable ‘Jo bhi main kehna chaahoon barbaad kare alfaaz mere’ in the movie.

I always wanted to know where the words came from, what was the inspiration, what made a writer write those words that undermine the value of words themselves, and with such a simplicity, in such an admission, that it sounds like a very simple truth.
I was so mystified of the lines that while I was writing to Irshad Kamil to ask the meaning of a word today, I asked him about this line too. But before his reply to me, I found something in Caravan magazine's article on him. Pasting those lines that talk about this line, if you're interested in the rest, the link is included too. “Words destroy what I have to say,” was the brief Ali offered Kamil during their initial meetings in 2010 for a song that brings out the dilemma of his hopeless protagonist. Kamil responded with lines from a ghazal of his:
